The Grade Eights have been working with short stories in French class, doing Literature Circle activities with their respective books. Once the books were finished, the students created a short presentation to the rest of the class, so that the students who hadn't read the story, would know the plot. Many students chose to do a PowerPoint presentation, however the group who read the story "Simon le grincheux" chose to do a theatrical presentation, acting out the story for their classmates. During practice, their presentation morphed into an operetta, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the entire class. I hope that you enjoy it too!!!

I have finally gotten around to yanking out the audio from the videos that I took of the kids presenting their raps. The videos are awesome, and if you would like to see your child performing his or her rap, please send me an email - I'd be happy to arrange a showing for you in class! Below you will find the MP3s of the students' raps. We wrote our own hip hop music on MusicShake.com, and then the kids used that to practice, and ultimately, to perform! You can find their final copies of their raps below, which may help you in deciphering the lyrics ;)

After modelling rap-writing as a whole class, the students have been working in small groups to write a rap on the subject of "Les Sports". If you check back soon, we should have some MP3s posted of the students actually performing their raps :)

The Grade Eight class has also been working on writing raps. They had fun writing the following rap about one of their classmates. Voilà, an ode to Alex!
Au Sujet d'Alex
Alex est bizarre, et ça c’est vrai
Il aime Skyrim, et il aime nager.
Il déteste le légumes, il déteste le frais
Il a treize ans, la fête en janvier.
Alex est brun, maigre et petit.
Alex est aussi très, très gentil.
Il joue les jeux électroniques.
Alex est vraiment fantastique!
